Pre-Apprenticeship Training Programs offered by Niagara College are fully funded by the Government of Ontario. These programs are designed to support participants entering the apprenticeship system and help prepare you for this step.

Pre-apprenticeship programs are offered on a year-to-year basis pending funding approval by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.

The program consists of three segments:

  • Academic Upgrading and Trade Preparation (10 weeks)
  • Level 1 Apprenticeship Training (8 weeks)
  • Placement (12 weeks)

Admission Requirements

To be considered for a pre-apprenticeship training program at Niagara College, you must:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee with a work permit
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have your high school diploma/GED or verified equivalent
  • Be willing and able to commit to a full-time program for 30 weeks
