\r\n Niagara College has received a Certificate of Achievement in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP).<\/div>\r\n\n\n\n

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), an international program administered by Audubon International designed to help landowners preserve and enhance the environmental quality of their property! A copy of our certificate is available<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program gives people an opportunity to do something good for the environment right where they live, work, and recreate\u201d explained Tara Donadio, Director of Cooperative Sanctuary Programs for Audubon International. \u201cWe welcome Niagara College\u2019s commitment to managing the property in an environmentally-sensitive manner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By joining and participating in the ACSP, Niagara College will be involved in projects that enhance habitat for wildlife and preserve natural resources for the benefit of the local community.  Some of the projects include: placing more habitat structures around campus including bird boxes, bat boxes, duck boxes, and salamander boards; utilizing integrated pest management techniques; developing a water quality sampling protocol; planting more drought resistant plants; and installing pollinator gardens. It will also provide a wonderful platform to get students involved to learn more about our grounds and to build many different skills related to sustainable management of our unique situation within the Niagara Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program benefits both people and wildlife,\u201d said Donadio.  \u201cIt\u2019s a great way for businesses and environmental organizations to work together to become better stewards of the land and natural resources.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audubon International is an environmental organization dedicated to educating, assisting, and inspiring millions of people from all walks of life to protect and sustain the land, water, wildlife, and natural resources around them.  In addition to businesses, Audubon International also provides programs for golf courses, schools, communities, and new developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
