About Project Brew

Project Brew patrons pack the hall

Every semester Niagara College’s graduating Brewmaster students organize and host a beer festival.

It’s at this festival that students showcase what they’ve learned since joining Niagara College’s Brewmaster and Brewery Operations program. These (oftentimes experimental) beers are brewed in small batches and may even be seen in the wild in the future.

Study at the Niagara College Teaching Brewery

Canada’s first Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program offers extensive hands-on training in an on-site, state-of-the-art Teaching Brewery to prepare graduates for employment in the expanding brewery, microbrewery and brewpub industries. This unique program includes specialized instruction in brewing technology, sensory evaluation, quality control, brewery operations, sales management, and advanced business applications specific to beer-related sectors; teaching students to be leaders in the craft beer industry.

The program stays current by involving the Ontario Craft Brewers Association and national program advisory committees. Students learn from world-class, award-winning Brewmaster faculty and have access to our on-site hop yard and local farm products to brew a full range of beer styles. The program has an outstanding employment rate and helps to fill a gap in the industry.

Students are eligible to obtain Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) certification.
