This course will study local and wide area networks setup, configuration, troubleshooting and administration. Emphasis will be given to Ethernet networks. Topics of study will include network administration using tools such as packet sniffers, devices such as switches, repeaters, bridges, routers, and gateways, and troubleshooting network problems. Practical experience will be gained with Linux including VOIP and firewall appliance technology. Advanced networking technologies such as Switched Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Ethernet on Fiber, and wireless networking will be examined.
