You will develop estimates using the Elemental Cost Analysis methodology. You will develop unit prices for formwork and excavation, owning & operating costs of excavation equipment. You will use industry price lists and databases to develop prices for projects and use gross margin and markup methods to determine profit and overheads. Production rates will be used to determine manpower requirements and costs for these projects. You will perform a complete quantity take-off of a commercial plaza. You will use productivity and crew tables to calculate costs of labour and total project duration. A full bid package will be prepared in a group setting and submitted under 'tender closing' conditions. WinEst Estimating Software, R.S. Means CostWorks and Microsoft Excel will be utilized extensively throughout the course.
