Solution for Language Error in Firefox

If you are receiving the error “Logon failed as the language you have selected is not available for this database” and are using Mozilla Firefox, then follow these instructions.

  1. Depending on how your Firefox is set up, the first part of these instructions will be different. Please follow either 1a or 1b below, and then proceed to step 2.
    1. If your Firefox has an orange button in the top left corner reading “Firefox”, then follow these steps.

      1. Click the orange “Firefox” button.
      2. In the flyout click “Options”.
      3. Click the “Content” tab.
      4. Proceed to step 2.
    2. If your Firefox has no orange button but instead has a menu reading “File”, “Edit” “View” and so on, then follow these steps.Firefox with no orange button
      1. Click “Tools”.
      2. In the dropdown click “Options”.
      3. Click the “Content” tab.
      4. Proceed to step 2.

  2. In the Languages box, click the Choose button.

  3. Click “Select a language to add…”

  4. In the pull down menu, scroll to and click on “English/United States [en-us]”.

  5. Click the “Add” button. English/United States [en-us] should now be listed under “Languages in order of preference:”.
  6. Remove any other languages by clicking to highlight them, and then clicking “Remove” OR click “Move Down” to make any secondary languages come after English as the preferred language. This may be done to preserve your native language for other websites.

  7. Click “OK” and then click “OK” again to exit the menus.
  8. Restart Mozilla Firefox and attempt to log in again.
