{"id":46,"date":"2021-05-19T11:58:09","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T15:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/launchguide-draft\/?page_id=46"},"modified":"2024-03-11T14:07:53","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T18:07:53","slug":"updates","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/launchguide\/brightspace\/updates\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Get Important Course Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\r\n<div class=\"introduction nob dg l\">\r\n   Brightspace has several features that allow you to receive important course and program information, keep track of deadlines, and communicate with your professors.<\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><i class=\"fa-solid fa-exclamation-circle\"><\/i> Course Notifications<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Brightspace can send you important course notifications on the Notifications Dashboard, by email, and through text messaging. <strong>Please note that you have to OPT-IN to receive notifications from Brightspace on your email or phone.<\/strong> You get to choose the method and frequency of notifications that you receive in Brightspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n<div class=\"alert is-style-orange ileft\">\r\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"alert-inner\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; letter-spacing: 0.01rem;\">Verify that your email address and\/or mobile number are correct under the contact methods section. Select \u201c<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; letter-spacing: 0.01rem;\">Change your email settings\u201d<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; letter-spacing: 0.01rem;\"> to change the email the notifications will be sent to. Select <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; letter-spacing: 0.01rem;\">\u201cRegister your mobile\u201d<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; letter-spacing: 0.01rem;\"> to receive notifications through your mobile device.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-08dd61c9-f282-4b78-96df-0e83a587fd94\"><i class=\"fa-solid fa-users-cog\"><\/i> How to customize your notification preferences<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1) Login to Brightspace<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>After logging into Brightspace, click your name in the upper right-hand corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) Select Notifications<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>This will take you to the Notifications page.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\r\n\t\r\n\t<figure class=\"image c tb none\" style=\"width:75%;
