Management<\/a> program is returning to Niagara College with a modern makeover this Fall – including flexible delivery options, enhanced experiential learning opportunities and an updated curriculum designed to meet the evolving demands of today’s event industry.<\/p>\n<p>Based at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake – in the heart of Niagara’s premier hospitality, tourism and events region – the one-year graduate certificate program offers students direct access to world-class venues, wineries, festivals and tourism operators.<\/p>\n<p>The program was reimagined from the ground up to address emerging industry trends, including attendee-experience design, modern event technologies, risk management and sustainability. To support diverse learning styles and lifestyle needs, the program offers a blend of on-campus, hybrid and flexible course delivery formats. This approach maintains the College’s signature collaborative standard by providing modern adaptability.<\/p>\n<p>“The events industry has undergone a massive transformation, requiring professionals who are creative, adaptable, technologically savvy, and skilled at creating memorable experiences,” said Caroline Chabert Delio, Associate Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>“Our reimagined curriculum ensures our graduates gain the hands-on experience and industry connections they need to remain at the forefront of that evolution – right in the heart of Niagara’s thriving tourism sector.”<\/p>\n<p>Rather than confining practical application to a final capstone project, the program embeds live, hands-on learning into every term. Students conceptualize, budget, market and execute live event projects from start to finish throughout their studies. Alongside these projects, students complete industry placements to gain real-world experience – from local festivals and corporate conferences to fundraisers and sporting events. They graduate with a specialized capstone experience tied to the hospitality and tourism sectors.<\/p>\n<p>From sponsorship decks and marketing strategies to operational safety plans and event projects, students gain professional work-ready skills to succeed in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates transition into high-impact roles across corporate, non-profit and social event sectors, including event manager, marketing event coordinator, venue manager, wedding planner, project manager, brand activation specialist, corporate sales manager and more.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the College’ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/hospitalityandtourism\/\">School of Hospitality and Tourism<\/a>, Event Management students will benefit from being a part of the College’s trailblazing Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies division – which also includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/culinaryarts\/\">School of Culinary Arts<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/winebeerspirits\/\">School of Wine, Beer and Spirits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>“The Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies division, along with the Niagara College community, has one of the most diverse and extensive community event programming in the Ontario college system. A 2013 graduate, Dietric started out with Vintage Hotels and served as Manager of Business Events with Niagara Parks before taking on her current role as Director of Event Sales for Stone Eagle Winery, Two Sisters Vineyards and 11<sup>th<\/sup> Post on Queen.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past decade, Dietrich has earned widespread industry recognition. Her honours include the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Toronto Chapter Future Leader of the Year Award (2020), the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) “20 in their Twenties” award (2020), and the Canadian Hospitality Foundation Event Management Award (2013).<\/p>\n<p>She is passionate about her work in the industry – whether it’s welcoming 4,000 international guests to a gala dinner, contracting the premiere of Porsche’s first fully electric vehicle with a private concert, fireworks and drone show, or enhancing the guest experience at one of Niagara’s finest wineries.<\/p>\n<p>“I love the combination of creativity, strategy and relationship-building, and the fact that you get to see an idea go from a conversation or concept to something that guests actually experience,” she said.<\/p>\n<p>Dietrich recalled enrolling in Event Management to purse her interest in entering the field after completing her university degree, which proved to be “the perfect fit”<\/p>\n<p>“My experience at Niagara College was incredibly valuable because it gave me both a practical understanding of the industry and the opportunity to explore the different career paths within it,” said Dietrich. “The program helped me build relationships with industry professionals and make connections that ultimately led to my first job after graduation. Saint Mary's Bay, a vibrant Acadian community in southwestern Nova Scotia. It first took root in a secluded clearing called \"le Tr\u00e9carr\u00e9,\" away from the watchful eyes of local priests, and has since grown into a powerful cultural force. Far from being a relic of the past or a tourist attraction, the region's musical identity remains as dynamic as ever, with the force of a crashing wave. Creativity flows through the community like the tides, constantly evolving as new generations blend bluegrass and country with rock, punk, hip-hop and electronic sounds. Bands like Grand D\u00e9rangement, Peanut Butter Sunday and Radio Radio push musical traditions beyond the borders of Acadia and francophone Canada. available for <strong>NC Craft Masterclass Welcome to Wine Country.<\/strong> The two-hour guided tasting event will take place Thursday, August 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the NC Craft Beverage Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Designed as an immersive experience for visiting and local wine enthusiasts or anyone curious about Niagara wines, the event will take guests on a guided journey through the vineyards, microclimates and stories that make Niagara one of Canada’s premier wine regions. Attendees will discover how local soils and winemaking traditions shape Niagara wines will getting an insider’s look at the next generation of winemakers learning their craft.<\/p>\n<p>Allison Findlay, Head Winemaker at the NC Teaching Winery, noted that the event presents an opportunity for guests to not only enjoy Niagara wine, but learn more about where it comes from, why it tastes so good, and what sets it apart from other wines around the world.<\/p>\n<p>“We are the Teaching Winery, so who better to take you on this journey of education and immersive experience,” said Findlay. “We have a very unique location, nestled next to the escarpment and only a few kilometers from Lake Ontario that makes our estate vineyard an excellent place to showcase the importance of microclimate on Ontario wines.”<\/p>\n<p>“This is geared to people who are new to Niagara or who have been getting into visiting wineries, and who want more in-depth knowledge of the industry, and the structure of wine tasting,” said Brad Tandy, Events and Marketing Coordinator, NC Craft, who will lead the inaugural masterclass.<\/p>\n<p>Tandy noted that while the NC Craft Beverage Centre – formerly the Wine Visitor + Education Centre – has hosted seminars in the past, the new Masterclass series aligns directly with the rebranded NC Craft identity launched in May. Future events will tap into the expertise of makers across the College’s Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery and Teaching Distillery – all the first facilities of their kind in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>“We want to show that we are <em>the<\/em> winery where you can actually learn about wine – or beer or spirits – as the series progresses,” said Tandy.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural masterclass experience includes five guided wine tastings, artisanal cheese and charcuterie, an illustrated Niagara wine map, guided tasting notes, a masterclass workbook, take-home resources and more.<\/p>\n<p>To keep the setting personal and interactive, registration will be capped at 20 guests.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $69 per person and may be reserved online through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nccraft.ca\/event\/welcome-to-wine-country\/\">NC Craft event page.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Visit the NC Craft Beverage Centre at the Daniel J. (NRPS) Youth in Policing Initiative to its Welland Campus on July 30, offering an immersive look at NC’s industry-leading training facilities and the hands-on learning opportunities available to students preparing for careers in law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>“The Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is an eight-week summer employment program for youth aged 16-18, offered in partnership with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services,” said Zora Bura, Talent Acquisition and Development Manager with the NRPS. “The youth selected go through a competitive recruitment process, and those chosen for the program represent the motivated, engaged and community-minded young people in the region. The program provides a safe, fun and educational summer employment opportunity, exposing youth to various roles and units within the Service. Smith engaged with the other students, shared his experience as an NC graduate, and explained the specialized equipment used in their training. The group also explored the College’s specialized learning environments and learned more about the practical training available to students preparing for careers in policing, border services and investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The group toured NC’s state-of-the-art Justice Studies Simulation Lab, where they participated in realistic police use-of-force exercises using an interactive floor-to-ceiling simulation system.
