These sessions are a key opportunity for students to prepare for their academic journey and will cover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Course overviews, Teaching Learning Plans (TLPs), required supplies, and expectations for the first day of classes<\/li>\n<li>Navigation of Brightspace and student responsibilities for academic success<\/li>\n<li>Co-op information (where applicable), including how to secure placements, use the MyCareer portal, and connect with Co-op Consultants<\/li>\n<li>Answers to any outstanding questions before classes begin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To learn more about program information sessions, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/engagement\/orientation\/sessions\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre-Orientation programming<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A variety of virtual and in-person sessions are available throughout July and August to help students prepare in advance of their first day of classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Virtual Pre-Departure sessions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Student Engagement, these sessions support international students as they prepare for their first semester and life at NC. Students can explore services, ask questions, and build confidence ahead of arrival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall 101:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An overview of everything students need to know to get started at NC, including Orientation, TLPs, and ways to get involved in student life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Timetable support sessions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students can attend <em>Timetable Help Sessions<\/em> and <em>Timetable Selection 101<\/em> for step-by-step guidance on selecting and understanding their timetable, with opportunities to ask questions and receive support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communication Tools 101:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An introduction to Brightspace, the MyNC portal, and student email, including a live Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about Pre-Orientation sessions and to register, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/engagement\/orientation\/preorientation\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>KickSTART returns with a new format<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>KickSTART will return with an updated format this year, running from August 24 to Sept. 4. Each day will focus on specific academic schools and program areas, giving students the opportunity to connect with classmates ahead of Orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Designed to help students &#8220;kickstart&#8221; their success at NC, the program allows them to complete key pre-term tasks early, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Picking up student ID cards<\/li>\n<li>Registering lockers<\/li>\n<li>Visiting the campus bookstore (Welland campus)<\/li>\n<li>Learning key college systems (Brightspace, MyNC, Outlook)<\/li>\n<li>Participating in campus tours and locating classrooms<\/li>\n<li>Meeting peers and building connections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each session will include a dedicated check-in, icebreakers, a Communications 101 learning session, campus tour, and academic advising session.<\/p>\n<p>While students participate in sessions, Student Engagement will also host informal parent and supporter sessions from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. These sessions provide parents and supporters with an opportunity to learn more about the NC student experience, ask questions and connect with others who are supporting students through the same transition, helping them feel informed and confident as their student begins their NC journey<\/p>\n<p>By attending KickSTART, students can reduce wait times on Orientation Day and start the term feeling prepared and confident.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Academic schools are encouraged to get involved by joining icebreaker sessions, connecting with parents and supporters, or engaging with students during campus tours. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information or to participate, contact Michelle Silk at <a href=\"mailto:msilk@niagaracollege.ca\">msilk@niagaracollege.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about KickSTART, including the full schedule, and to register for a session, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/engagement\/orientation\/prepweek\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Transition Peers program<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Transition Peers program will return in mid-August, connecting new students with experienced peer mentors (Level 2+) during the final two weeks of August and the first four weeks of September. These volunteers help students navigate campus resources, answer questions, and build a sense of belonging as they adjust to college life.<\/p>\n<p>Additional information will be available closer to the program&#8217;s launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/engagement\/transition-peers\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Submit your Orientation events<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Departments hosting events during the first week or month of the Fall term are encouraged to submit their events for inclusion in official Orientation listings. Ontario&#8217;s Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, to the Welland Campus to celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that makes NC the first post-secondary institution to partner with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/ontario-corps?utm_source=keyword&amp;utm_medium=keyword-url&amp;utm_campaign=ontariocorps?utm_campaign=%2Fen%2Frelease%2F1007739%2Fprovince-welcomes-niagara-college-to-ontario-corps&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsroom\">Ontario Corps<\/a>, the province&#8217;s emergency preparedness and response initiative.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the first post-secondary institution to partner with Ontario Corps, Niagara College is pleased to an impressive emergency operations centre and incident management team that is ready for anything when an emergency strikes &#8230; thank you once again to everyone at Niagara College for joining our efforts to protect Ontario.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Among those attending the signing ceremony were members of NC&#8217;s Executive Team, Steve Pinsonneault, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Welland Mayor Frank Campion, a representative from MPP Sam Oosterhoff&#8217;s office, and students from the College&#8217;s Personal Support Worker (PSW) program.<\/p>\n<p>Through the partnership, NC will encourage students, faculty and staff to register as Ontario Corps volunteers while participating in information sessions, community engagement initiatives and activities that strengthen emergency preparedness. As a leader in emergency management education, the College will also contribute institutional expertise and best practices that support emergency preparedness and community resilience across Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>Following the MOU signing, Minister Dunlop toured NC&#8217;s new Defence Systems Engineering Technology labs. She learned about the College&#8217;s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/technology\/program\/defence-systems-engineering-technology\/\">Defence Systems Engineering Technology<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/technology\/program\/defence-systems-engineering-technician\/\">Technician<\/a> programs, which are launching this fall in direct response to provincial priorities and evolving labour market needs. Minister Dunlop also heard about the important role students and graduates of these programs can play in supporting emergency response efforts.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, President Kennedy showcased some of the drones from the Defence Systems Engineering Technology program, the first program of its kind in Canada, noting that drones play an increasingly important role in many situations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This program will equip graduates with the skills to build, refine, troubleshoot, repair and maintain aerial, terrestrial and marine drones,&#8221; class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>When 74-year-old Robert Tilley agreed to take photographer Ting Ting Chen on a road trip across Newfoundland, neither could have predicted the deep, cross-generational friendship that would blossom between them, nor how Robert's role in Ting Ting's art would challenge traditional ideas of the artist-muse relationship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This touching short film explores the concepts of aging, memory and identity while demonstrating the power of creative connection.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\t\t\r\n  <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column
