{"id":344912,"date":"2019-11-15T14:55:41","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T19:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/insidenc\/?p=344912"},"modified":"2019-11-15T14:55:41","modified_gmt":"2019-11-15T19:55:41","slug":"crnc-to-host-rock-around-the-clock-2019-november-28-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/insidenc\/2019\/11\/15\/crnc-to-host-rock-around-the-clock-2019-november-28-29\/","title":{"rendered":"CRNC to host Rock Around the Clock 2019 November 28-29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bring on the caffeine and turn up the volume: Rock Around the Clock will return for 2019.<\/p>\n<p>On November 28-29, a group of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/media-studies\/programs\/brtf-radio-tv-presentation\/\">Broadcasting &#8211; Radio, Television and Film<\/a> students at College radio station <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crnc.ca\/\">CRNC The Heat<\/a> will continue the tradition of hosting Rock Around the Clock: an annual 24-hour radiothon to raise funds for a worthy cause.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Rock Around the Clock will raise funds for NCSAC&#8217;s Nourishing Minds program, which provides grocery gift cards to NC students who need them.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative will provide participating students with a valuable opportunity to manage and participate in a typical radio fundraising event, noted Broadcasting professor Bruce Gilbert.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Radiothons are truly experiential learning,&#8221; said Gilbert. &#8220;More importantly though, it&#8217;s a chance for BRTF students to give back a little to the College community by raising money for the Nourishing Minds program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The event also marks a &#8216;changing of the guards&#8217; at CRNC. It is staffed by the current department heads at the College radio station, with support from the incoming group who will officially take over in the new year. On-air duties will be covered by students who host weekend specialty shows.<\/p>\n<p>Rock Around the Clock will kick off at noon on November 28 and will run until noon on November 29.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support Rock Around the Clock 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drop by The Heat studio (Welland Campus, beside International in the Simcoe foyer) during Rock Around the Clock and drop off a cash donation to NCSAC&#8217;s Nourishing Minds program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About CRNC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crnc.ca\/\">CRNC The Heat<\/a> is the campus radio station for Niagara College.
