From fresh fades to brilliant colour, Niagara College’s first-ever Hair Show was the mane<\/em> event, uniting students, pros, and future stylists for a dynamic day of learning and career-building.<\/p>\n

Coordinated by faculty in NC’s Hairstyling<\/a> and Barbering<\/a> programs, the day featured globally recognized artists from Matrix Canada<\/a> who presented the latest trends and demonstrated looks on stage with completed models.<\/p>\n

“We are absolutely thrilled to have you here today,” said program coordinator Merinda Arcidiacono in her opening remarks. “Today is a celebration of creativity, passion and incredible artistry in our industry. We hope each of you leaves here today feeling inspired, energized, and reminded just how exciting and limitless the world of hairstyling and barbering truly is.”<\/p>\n

NC’s Hair Show drew over 200 guests, including current students, alumni, industry professionals including salon owners, and 75 cosmetology students from grades 10 to 12 from the Grand Erie District School Board, Niagara Catholic District School Boards, and District School Board of Niagara.<\/p>\n

“The Hair Show was a tremendous opportunity for our students to connect, learn, and be inspired,” said Arcidiacono. “It was also a great way to engage with future NC students.”<\/p>\n

At the outset, Arcidiacono took a moment to put Hairstyling student Isabella Boom in the spotlight. A testament to excellence in her field, Boom recently placed fourth at the Skills Canada national competition in Regina, Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n

Kicking off the morning, Matrix Ambassadors Martin Menard and Kyle Rae took to the stage to demonstrate the tricks of the trades.<\/p>\n

Menard captivated the audience with a series of stunning hair transformations, offering an in-depth look at dye formulations, foil placement, hair type considerations, and the latest industry trends. Simultaneously, Rae gave a live demonstration of his expert razor-cutting technique. In the afternoon, the dynamic duo shifted focus to barbering, showcasing precision techniques on live models.<\/p>\n

Beyond expanding their knowledge of technique, Georgia Reynolds, an Empathy at Work<\/em>\u00a0Champion and Facilitator invited attendees to try a reflection exercise to support making intentional career choices.<\/p>\n

Daisy Idsinga from Green Circle Salons<\/a>, the College’s sustainability partner, also spoke about the program and its impact.<\/p>\n

The inaugural Hair Show delighted attendees with door prizes and giveaways, including a gift bag filled with generous product donations from NC alumni working in the industry.<\/p>\n
