On July 19, the Toronto Star and the three Niagara dailies (the St. Catharines Standard, Welland Tribune and Niagara Falls Review) announced that Niagara College is aiming to triple its number of on-campus housing spots over the next four years. It will build new living spaces in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake to accommodate 1,000 students and renovate its two on-campus residences.

Vice President, Advancement, Gord Arbeau is quoted in the article: “We have a bit of catch-up to do and that’s really what led to this plan. We think the end result of this expansion plan would be to (move) students who are currently living off campus on to campus and so that should and could increase the supply of housing in the community for others.”
