St. Catharines Standard: NC students shine at Skills Ontario Competition

On May 10, the three Niagara dailies (St. Catharines Standard, Welland Tribune and Niagara Falls Review) and Niagara this Week announced that two Niagara students from Niagara College have moved on to compete at a national skills competition after winning gold at the recent Skills Ontario Competition.

The article highlights Evan Sawatsky a joint Niagara College-Brock University bachelor of arts (honours) student in the Game Design program who took a gold medal at the competition in 3D digital game art, and Erin Dobell, in NC’s Graphic Design program who placed first in the graphic design — studio production category.

The article also highlights Dakota Miller who won silver in the hairstyling competition, Game Development student Ricardo Mohammed who won silver in the 3D digital game art competition and Selina Carlucci, who recently completed her second year of the College’s Esthetician program and achieved third place in esthetics at the Ontario competition.
