Holiday cheer is in full bloom at the NC Teaching Greenhouse, where a wide variety of student-grown poinsettias are available for purchase until sold out.
For every six-inch poinsettia sold, $1 will be donated to the NC Cares United Way Campaign. Six inch poinsettias are $10 each and come in a selection of colours and varieties.
This year’s crop features novelty poinsettias grown for the first time at the Teaching Greenhouse: Christmas Mouse (a red or pink poinsettia with rounded bracts/leaves that look like little ears) and Christmas Rose (a red poinsettia featuring leaves that curl under, forming a rose like appearance).
Other popular novelty varieties include ‘New Glitter’ (a red poinsettia that looks like it was splattered with bleach), ‘Luv U Pink’ (a hot pink poinsettia with a white margin that is so vibrant it practically glows) and more. Traditional red, white and pink poinsettias are also available.
Online ordering is available or stop by the NC Teaching Greenhouse, located at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
