A message from President Sean Kennedy:
I am delighted to invite you to join us for our annual Day of Reflection on Friday, April 29. The program will be delivered virtually from 1 to 3 p.m. with an outdoor reception in the courtyard at the Welland Campus immediately to follow.
Day of Reflection is a time for our NC community to come together for collaboration and reflection on the past year – to consider our areas of strength and opportunities for growth in the year ahead. Our employees are the driving force of innovation at NC, and we rely on your insights and feedback to ensure that we are always improving and finding better ways to support our students.
This year, Day of Reflection comes on the heels of the launch of our new Strategic Plan. Thank you to all staff and faculty who attended the launch last week and who participated in the consultations. Your input and ideas were integral to shaping the College’s vision in this new Strategic Plan as we write the next chapter in our NC story.
Our new strategic plan is about our people – who we are and what connects us; our strong organizational culture; our focus on students; our welcoming, trailblazing and passionate characteristics. The plan will serve as our guide over the next five years as we navigate a unique time in the postsecondary sector and in society.
Day of Reflection will feature a series of panels, each focused on one strategic area identified in the new plan: a wholistic student experience; academic excellence; global reach, alumni and partner engagement, social inclusion and environmental sustainability, and operational excellence. I look forward to a fruitful discussion of what these mean for the campus community and how the plan will lead us to the achievement of our vision.
I am also excited to share that we will announce the inaugural winners of the President’s Award for Innovation in Student Learning and Success.
You are invited to register for the virtual Day of Reflection program and the in-person, outdoor reception to follow. Please use the Zoom link provided by email to access the virtual event.
I look forward to seeing you all virtually at 1 p.m. on Friday.
While I had been eagerly anticipating joining you for the reception at the Welland Campus, I will be in isolation per public health guidelines and unable to attend. I hope you will enjoy the opportunity to gather outdoors with your friends and colleagues in person to continue the conversations we will begin during our virtual gathering. I will certainly be with you all in spirit!
