Tribune reporter Kris Dubé published a story in the Niagara Dailies about a new scholarship for Niagara College students, funded through a gift by local donors Lauren and Vaughn Goettler.
The scholarship will provide 12 returning NC students with a bursary of $1,000. To apply, students will need to have an average of 70 per cent or higher and demonstrate financial need. The Goettlers were inspired to provide a bursary to students who are high-achieving but are struggling financially, particularly in light of the pandemic.
The news story notes that the Goettler Family Scholarship is the first in the college’s history from a private donor to assist one student from each main school of study.
