The Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce, which was created in collaboration with the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC) began its work in early February. Eighteen talented and dedicated individuals who embody the NC DNA are a part of the Taskforce.
The Taskforce was established to create a framework and blueprint for a more inclusive, diverse, and culturally and globally engaged college community.
Since its creation, Taskforce members have been working to identify and refine their vision statement and guiding principles while developing strategic priorities and themes that will act as the foundation for the Niagara College Diversity and Inclusion Blueprint.
The Taskforce has met with NC community members to learn what diversity and inclusion work is currently under way at the college. In May, they will also meet with other post-secondary institutions to discuss key learnings from D&I initiatives at their respective schools.
The Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce is committed to applying a practical approach to its work that engages kindness first and utilizes an intersectional and sustainable perspective in the creation of the blueprint that will guide Niagara College’s efforts in creating a more diverse and inclusive college community over the next three years.
The Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce will present this blueprint to NC’s Executive Team in June 2021 and it will act as an important piece of the college’s next strategic plan.
