Niagara College’s first-ever virtual Day of Reflection is taking place on Thursday April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon and all college staff and faculty are invited and encouraged to join.
This year, Day of Reflection is all about collaboration and looking towards the future of NC. With the college’s new strategic plan underway, the event will provide our college community with the opportunity to provide input and feedback on NC’s future.
Day of Reflection will kick off at 9 a.m. with remarks from president Sean Kennedy where he will discuss achievements from the past year as well as upcoming milestones in 2021.
Following president Kennedy’s remarks, there will be a thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of higher education in Ontario and Niagara College’s role in the post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery. The panel will feature influential leaders from the college and the community with unique perspectives relating to higher education. Panelists include:
- Leesa Wheelahan, professor, University of Toronto – Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
- Mishka Balsom, CEO, Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, Niagara College Board of Governors member.
- Paul Brennan, sr. partner & consultant, InnovEd ODT Canada.
- Dorita Pentesco, director of marketing and student recruitment, Niagara College.
- Shane Malcolm, director of career success, Onyx Initiative, Niagara College Board of Governors member.
After the panel, we’ll be engaged in interactive and small group discussions to provide input into the strategic plan.
Staff and faculty will receive an email with information on how to join this year’s Day of Reflection. Attendees are encouraged to use a desktop or laptop when joining Day of Reflection and are welcome to have other devices on hand to participate in the Q&A sessions.
