The annual NCSAC Board of Directors & Niagara College Board of Governors Student Representative election is right around the corner and NCSAC is asking for Niagara College staff and faculty to encourage student leaders to apply.
The NCSAC exists to be the voice of the student body at NC and a new board is elected every year to encourage fresh perspectives while creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. This year, more than ever, strong student leadership is crucial as we continue to navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the Niagara College student body will benefit from dedicated and passionate students guiding the NCSAC board.
We are asking that all staff and faculty who know of students that are natural leaders, want to get involved with Niagara College, be an advocate for the student community and learn good governance encourage them to get involved by applying for the below opportunities.
Election Kits and the nomination process
Starting on Feb. 8, students will be able to access the election kits on the NCSAC website, www.ncvotes.ca, which outlines the nomination process for each election. Election kits (nominations) are due on Feb. 19.
NCSAC Board of Director role
There are 12 board positions available with one student selected from each school of study at Niagara College, as well as the position of NCSAC President. Each director will work within their school of study, connect with their associate deans, and create links back to NCSAC. While directors will draw some of their attention to their schools of study, their primary focus will be the larger college collective. NCSAC directors will work towards advancing the organization and enhancing NCSAC’s presence at the college.
NCSAC President
The position of NCSAC president is open to any full-time student, graduating this coming spring, who is able to fulfil a full-time, paid, salary position from May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022.
Niagara College Board of Governor Student Representative
The NC BOG is responsible for defining the role and mission of the college, and as such, plays a huge role in setting the future path for the college. Student governors play a significant role on the board. Students represent the largest group of stakeholders at the college. Board meetings provide the opportunity for student governors to provide their perspective on high-level strategic issues facing their college, and participate in discussions on important matters.
