Kithio Mwanzia, from Niagara College’s Research & Innovation Division, is in the spotlight as the Founder Institute Waterloo launches its #BlackLivesMatter in Tech panel.
Mwanzia, who is the network manager for the NC-led Southern Ontario Network for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (SONAMI), will be participating in the #BlackLivesMatter in Tech panel on June 25. The panel aims to draw awareness to racial inequality and the role technology plays in fighting racism in 2020, and beyond.
“Innovation is described as the ability to see change as an opportunity not a threat, recent events have demonstrated how we define ourselves by our own actions and choices,” said Mwanzia.
“We can distinguish ourselves when our actions and choices are grounded in diversity, equal rights, justice and, inclusion, by so doing, we define who we are as individuals, industry and as Canadians.”
Mwanzia, who was formerly the president of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce prior to joining NC in late 2019, joins the panel alongside business leaders including Marva Wisdom (moderator) founder of Wisdom Consulting; Isaac Adejuwon, founder of MetricsFlow; Alois Monger, co-founder of Zili; and Amoye Henry, co-founder of Pitch Better Canada.
Part of the Founder Institute Waterloo Spring 2020 Launch free online event, the #BlackLivesMatter in Tech panel is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
The Founder Institute is the world’s largest startup accelerator and has been a pioneer in trying to eliminate systemic racism in tech, using a proprietary racially unbiased acceptance process.
