Don’t miss NC at Niagara Wine Festival

The Niagara Wine Festival is in full swing for 2014 and Niagara College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute is in the heart of the action.

During the festivities at Montebello Park, guests can visit the Niagara College Teaching Winery booth and sample College’s 2009 Cabernet Franc, 2012 Unoaked Chardonnay, and 2013 College Rose. Serving wine to the guests will be about 25 NC students, from the Winery and Viticulture, and Wine Business Management programs.

Next to the Teaching Winery booth will be the college’s Bench on the Go food truck where menu items will feature a suggested wine pairings. See menu here.

The CFWI will be assisting with a hors d’oeuvres reception at the VIP Pavillion for the RBC Awards, at the Harvest Lounge on Sundays of the festival. In addition, students will assist chef Justin Downes and Eric Peacock with making charcuterie plates at VIP Pavillion on both weekends of the festival.

Discovery Pass experience

The Niagara College Teaching Winery is one of several local wineries participating in the festival’s Discovery Pass program. On September 20-21, 27-28, visitors with discovery passes will be treated to Benchmark Restaurant’s Smoked Onion and Upper Canada Niagara Gold Cheese Tartlette with the NCTW’s 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon (or $10 without a Discovery Pass).

Discovery Passes are available to purchase at participating wineries, Ontario Tourism Travel Centres in Niagara Falls (Stanley Avenue and the QEW Skyway location), Niagara Falls Tourism, Grimsby Gateway Tourism Information Centre, Niagara on the Lake Chamber of Commerce, Magnificent Tours in the Marriott Niagara Falls.
