Newstalk 610 CKTB published a brief story on the students in NC’s Parademic program who have been working shifts at the Hope Centre in Welland as part of their course requirements. The 50 second-year students have assisted with the community lunch program and food bank which faculty see as an initiative to help build compassion, empathy, and better communication skills. Students have a chance to familiarize themselves with clients experiencing homelessness, mental illness, or additions to better prepare them for their work in the field.
