NC’s Carolyn Triemstra, dean of Community & Health Studies, penned a column in The St. Catharines Standard about the College becoming the first in Canada to be designated as a member of the Age-Friendly University (AFU) Global Network.
The global network is dedicated to the role higher education can play in responding to challenges and opportunities associated with an aging population. Triemstra writes, “the community and health studies division has naturally supported age-friendly initiatives through much of our course work and through our community partnerships.”
Triemstra explains that the network supports their current work and future strategic direction, and the cause is one in which NC is proud to support. She outlines various steps taken by the College to support the needs of older learners and an aging demographic in Niagara, that which align with NC’s strategic plan.
