Niagara Now reporter Brittany Carter wrote about NC students “garnering a reputation for crafting quality beers,” highlighting the recent wins for the Teaching Brewery. These include fourth semester student Aaron Duff who won the Golden Boot Award, and two silver medal wins at the 2019 Golden Tap and Ontario Brewing Awards.
Duff created a German wheat beer called Roll the Weiss – his first recipe – for his third term Canadian Brewing Association Target Brew project. Duff says winning the Taps Media’s Golden Boot award and scholarship is a confidence booster. Duff took home a $2,598 cash award, the sixth annual award Taps has presented to a Niagara College brewmaster student for a winning competition brew.
Flagship brews Beer 101 Bitter and Beer 101 Strong received new accolades which brewmaster professor Jon Downing attributes to the “consistency and quality of our brewmaster students, as different classes brewed each of these batches.”
