NC Welcomes Nicole Forrester as a new Sport Management professor for the College’s Business, Hospitality and Tourism division.
For more than 15 years, Nicole has committed herself to the understanding and implementation of high performance in sport as an athlete, scholar, and professional. She offers a rich academic background, including a Master of Education in Exercise and Sport Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Movement Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and Communication.
Nicole will be graduating in December 2012, with a PhD in Sport Psychology, from Michigan State University. Her dissertation topic title, “Good to great in athletics: How and why some athletes make the leap and others don’t,” is the first of its kind to consider the psychosocial elements which allow athletes who have spent many years being good internationally, emerge to be the top in their sport and sustain it.
Nicole is a performance consultant with an expansive academic and applied background in high performance, including sport management and marketing, biomechanics, exercise physiology and sport psychology. She is passionate about the power of sport, and its impact it can provide on a community. Additionally, she is currently a committee member of the Canadian Olympic Committee, Pan American Games, Athletics Canada, and an ambassador for Canadian Tire JumpStart, and Kidsport Ontario. Nicole has been a member of 20 Canadian National Teams. She is an Olympian, eight-time Canadian champion, Commonwealth Games champion in Athletics (Track & Field) and is currently transitioning out of sport as an athlete.
