On August 3, The Huntsville Doppler released a story on six NC culinary students who have been selected to prepare a high-end, artisanal feast at the Flavours of Ontario event in Huntsville.
Peter Blakeman, professor in NC’s School of Food and Wines Sciences highlights that NC’s “wonderful range of international students.” The culinary students who will participate come from a wide range of backgrounds including three Brazilian students, one Vietnamese, one Indian, and one Canadian. Blakeman explains that this event is an experiential learning opportunity for students to be exposed to northern Ontario’s resort region.
Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce hopes to highlight Hunstville as a destination for students to work after culinary school.
Blakeman has known local event partner and chef Jeff Suddaby for many years, and jumped a the chance to give his students exposure to this important culinary event. The menu will feature local Niagara cherries.
