A Message from John F.T. Scott, Chair, Niagara College Board of Governors:

This note is a follow-up to the May 28, 2019 announcement of the conclusion of Dr. Dan Patterson’s tenure as President of Niagara College. The Board of Governors holds the responsibility for the recruitment and selection of the next leader of the College.

In that vein, I am pleased to share with you that, following a robust process involving a Request for Proposals together with subsequent interviews, the Board of Governors has retained the services of Phelps – an executive search and leadership advisory firm – to assist in the search.

Phelps is Canada’s leading human capital collaborator, dedicated to guiding organizations to recruit, develop and transition academic leadership. Phelps is uniquely positioned to attract people who possess extraordinary capabilities because of its deep research of post-secondary issues, knowledge of trends and understanding of the vital role healthy cultures play in meeting the needs of students. Phelps has three decades of experience serving CEOs, boards of governors, students, stakeholders and communities. Their outstanding track record has recently supported continued excellence and exceptional performance in other Canadian academic institutions, including Centennial College, George Brown College and Fleming College, to name a few.

One of Phelps’s initial tasks will be assisting in the creation of a leadership profile for the President of Niagara College.  As we work to understand the unique qualities and values that embody NC’s culture, the input of the Niagara College community will be crucial. A series of engagement opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks that will allow staff, students, faculty and the wider College community to provide perspectives to inform this important process.

The Niagara College Board of Governors is committed to ensuring transparency, and will be providing regular updates via the Presidential Search website as we progress through the selection process.
