CHCH: NC students brave the cold for ice wine harvest at NC

CHCH broadcasted coverage of Niagara College’s Teaching Winery ice wine harvest on the morning of January 16. Reporter Simone Gavros joined Winery & Viticulture, Brewmaster & Brewery Operations, and Culinary students at the College’s vineyard at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

NC Winemaker Gavin Robertson was interviewed during the segment, which showcased the harvest process, and Winemaker Allison Findlay spoke to CHCH for the accompanying article, highlighting the unique learning opportunity the program provides for students.

“We have our first and second year winery and viticulture technicians. We also have other students from the college – the hospitality programs, our brew program – they all come out because this is a once in a lifetime experience for a lot of people,” Findlay said.
