To the NC Community,

As I approach my final days here at NC, I wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you and express my sincere appreciation for the congratulatory messages and kind wishes I’ve received from so many of you these past months. I’m proud I chose a career in education and working at NC has been a privilege and a passion for me.

I have been fortunate to hold many roles at the college over my career. When Marti Jurmain hired me in 1992 to teach Math and English in Academic Upgrading, I never dreamed I was embarking on such a long and fascinating career filled with many opportunities to learn, grow and lead. I have had the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues and mentors over the years who contributed greatly to my growth and development. I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of you for the work you do each day to make this such a vibrant and caring college.

I am grateful to have served as Vice President, Academic these past five years. The joy that comes from helping students succeed ignites our commitment to provide them with the richest possible educational experiences. As educators, we help students to find their path towards fulfilling careers.

To my colleagues remaining at NC, I will miss all of you, and the many ways in which we continue to transform student lives each day. To my colleagues embarking on this retirement journey with me, I hope we can stay in touch through the NC Retirees Association.

We do good work here at NC and we should all be proud of the caring and supportive college we have created.

Looking forward to seeing you all and celebrating with you at the Holiday Reception on December 17!

With gratitude,
Fiona
