NC’s booth at E.L. Crossley’s fourth annual Trades and Techfest was featured in Thorold Today, Pelham Today and the NOTL Local, where students from District School Board of Niagara high schools gathered to explore future careers through interactive exhibits hosted by local employers and post-secondary institutions.

The article mentions that at the Niagara College motive power booth, instructor Peter D’Elia said their tire-changing challenge drew a crowd. “We’re just trying to get kids interested in automotive,” he said. “They take a tire off, put it back on and we time them.”

D’Elia also spotlights NC’s two-year Motive Power program noting that it gives students a co-op experience and all three levels of apprenticeship schooling. “It’s a great start for anyone who wants to get in the automotive trade,” he said, adding that more and more women are signing up every year. “In our September start, we’ve got about nine girls. It’s a great opportunity for women in the trades whether they want to be a technician, service manager or advisor.”
