November 2 – 8, 2025, marks Treaties Recognition Week in Ontario, a time to learn about the importance of treaties, reflect on our shared responsibilities, and continue the journey toward Truth and Reconciliation.

Established in 2016, Treaties Recognition Week was the first legislation of its kind in Canada, declaring the first full week of November as an opportunity for all Ontarians to deepen their understanding of treaty rights and relationships. The week honours the ongoing significance of treaties in shaping the places where we live, work, and learn, while recognizing the commitments made between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

At Niagara College, students and employees are encouraged to take part in Treaties Recognition Week by exploring educational resources available through NC’s Indigenous Education Sources page, available through the Libraries and Learning Commons.

For more information about the services available to NC’s Indigenous students, please visit the Indigenous Education webpage.
