Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 7, as Niagara College and the City of Welland gear up to host the fourth annual Welland Girls Sports Day at the Empire Sportsplex from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free, fun-filled event is designed to introduce local girls, ages 6 to 12, to a variety of sports through engaging activities led by accomplished female athletes and coaches. From softball to wheelchair basketball, the event offers a unique opportunity for young girls to explore new sports and discover the joy of physical activity in a supportive environment.

This year, we’re looking for approximately 75 volunteers to help bring this exciting day to life. Volunteers will have the chance to interact with the community, support participants, and make lasting memories, all while promoting the importance of sport and recreation for young girls.

Many of Niagara College’s academic areas are involved in the event, with the Recreation Therapy program playing a key role. These students will lead the Parent Hub, offering resources and interactive, leisure-focused activities for parents and guardians. The goal is to help families learn about the benefits of sport and active recreation while enjoying meaningful, active moments together.
