A message from David Atherton, Dean, Academic and Liberal Studies, and Rebecca Nicholls, Associate Dean, Academic Studies – Welland Campus:
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming retirement of Wendy Ward, Professor in the School of Academic Studies – Welland Campus on December 31, marking the conclusion of more than 20 years as a Communications Professor.
On behalf of our department, and the NC community, we would like to thank Wendy for all of her contributions. Wendy has left an indelible mark on our department. Her unwavering commitment to quality and student experience has set a high standard for teaching. As her colleagues, each of us have been inspired by her creativity, her collaborative spirit, and her ability to make everyone around her feel welcome.
Before joining the world of academia, Wendy spent her life working as a writer in politics, the media, and non-profit organizations. Since joining NC, Wendy has shared her love and passion for writing, critical thinking, and communications with many students.
As Wendy embarks on her well-deserved retirement, she looks forward to spending quality time with family and friends, having the time to dive back into her favourite pastimes and exploring a few new ones. Wendy is grateful to have worked with and learned from so many wonderful people in ALS and other departments.
While we will miss seeing her on campus, we are excited for her as she begins this new chapter.
