Important Reminder: Ensuring a safe and healthy college community

As we approach the time of year where we see increases in cases of respiratory illness, and as COVID remains in our community, Niagara College reminds students and employees of the important responsibility that we all share for keeping our College community healthy and safe, and the policies in place for missing assignments, tests or work due to illness.

Niagara Region Public Health provides online resources for those experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness or COVID. Important information regarding symptoms, testing, and when to stay home/isolate is available online here. All students and employees are strongly encouraged to follow these important guidelines. A reminder that COVID tests are still available in the community free of charge at grocery and drug stores.

If you feel unwell or are experiencing symptoms related to respiratory illness, please stay home, and follow the steps for testing and isolation provided by Niagara Region Public Health. Students who are sick should inform their program faculty. The policy for missed assignments/tests/evaluations can be found here. Program-specific information for missed academic work can be found in the program manual on Blackboard. Employees who are unwell should stay home and contact their supervisor or manager before the start of his or her shift/workday.

Niagara College continues to provide a mask-friendly environment where the healthcare choices of all students and employees are respected. Please protect yourself and those around you by staying home if you’re sick, cleaning your hands regularly, and practicing respiratory illness etiquette – cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
