The month of May recognizes two months of significance: Asian Heritage Month and Canadian Jewish Heritage Month.
The NC community is invited to learn more about the heritage and contributions of these two communities to Canada, and how we can all be allies against hate and racism.

Let’s take the time to learn about the rich history of Asian heritage in Canada, celebrating the diversity of its many communities and sub-ethnicities. Brightspace module: Unpacking and Addressing Anti-Asian Racism Module
Niagara College recently purchased a series of modules from Western University which address various forms of hate, and have been put into a Niagara context. After completing this e-learning module, you will be able to:
- Define anti-Asian racism and related concepts;
- Identify the harmful impact historical Canadian laws and policies have had on Asian Canadians;
- Identify the harmful impact contemporary Canadian attitudes and social trends have had on Asian Canadians;
- Take action when encountering anti-Asian racism in interpersonal and institutional settings.

Canadian Jewish Heritage Month
Let’s dive into the rich history of Canada’s Jewish communities by honouring the diversity within this ethnoreligious group with shared historical, ethnic, religious, and cultural practices and identities. By listening to the lived experiences of Jewish community members and encouraging open, honest dialogue, we can better understand and confront antisemitism–both past and present.

Brightspace module: Unpacking and Addressing Antisemitism
Niagara College recently purchased a series of EDI learning modules from Western University which address various forms of hate. This module allows participants to reflect on antisemitism and its impact on the Jewish community, NC students, and employees.
After completing the module, you will be able to:
- Examine current instances of antisemitism at Niagara College, in Niagara, and across Canada.
- Reflect on current stereotypes and tropes against Jewish people and how they harm Jewish individuals and communities.
- Implement strategies and take actions to expose and confront antisemitism to build a more inclusive environment at NC and in our society.
