HWAS is pleased to post this call for presenters for our second annual Student Mental Health Retreat. The Retreat will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 between the hours of 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m. at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Happening during break week, this Retreat is a way to give back to our students and support their wellbeing and mental health while also gathering important information for our upcoming Student Mental Health Framework. We anticipate having approximately 40 student participants.

We are looking for NC employees to act as session facilitators to lead students through interactive sessions that allow them to explore various aspects of positive mental health and wellbeing. In alignment with the College’s strategic plan, this retreat is based on the paradigm of Holistic Education, which focuses on the education and growth of the whole person – head, hands, and heart (mind, body, spirit). It also focuses on connectedness, such that our growth and developmental activities are not fragmented from the whole person but rather nurtures interconnection between the self and whole person and self and the external world.

Below are a few examples of sessions:

  • Creating and caring for an indoor garden – making a connection with nature.
  • Walking meditation – slowing down and focusing attention to our body’s movements.
  • Storytelling – a way to connect with and develop empathy for others.

Retreat sessions will be:

  • In-person.
  • 60 minutes in duration.
  • Interactive in nature.

Submission details:

Successful applicants will be notified by February 7.
