On March 11, AnnMarie Raos, a professor in the School of Community Services was interviewed on CKTB to discuss the partnership between Niagara College and Bethesda’s Children and Youth Services involving a fun-filled experience for children with autism spectrum disorder or an intellectual or developmental disability.
The partnership welcomed 25 children to the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre at NC’s Welland Campus on February 16 and about 30 to 40 children are expected at the next event on March 15 during March Break.
In the segment, Raos elaborates on how the program aligned perfectly with one of her courses taught at NC and how she integrated it into the curriculum to provide students with an exceptional experiential learning opportunity. Raos is quoted in the segment: “[Allowing] our students to get the most, not just of the program we’re teaching, but also [gaining] hands-on learning, was key.”
