What’s open and closed at NC over the holiday break

Please note the following hours for college operations, services and learning enterprises during the holiday break from December 24 to January 2.

Campus Access: Temporary changes to our designated campus access points are in effect until Jan. 10. Regular access points for the start of Winter Term beginning Jan. 10 will be posted on the College’s Return to Campus website.

What’s open?

Community Employment Services: (43 Church St. in St. Catharines): Open via virtual services on the following dates: Dec. 24, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Dec. 29, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Dec. 30, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Dec. 31, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visit the CES website for information.

NC Teaching Greenhouse: The Teaching Greenhouse is open for online sales and curbside pickup during the week with the exception of: Dec. 24, 25, 26 and Jan. 1 (closed). Visit the Teaching Greenhouse’s online store to place an order.

Wine Visitor + Education Centre: Retail store, patio and indoor service open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. within provincial guidelines and requirements. Exceptions are: Dec. 24, open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Dec. 25, closed; Dec. 31, open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Jan. 1, closed.

Tasting, shopping, drinks by the glass, and snack service is available. Products include NC wine, beer, cider and spirits. For curbside pickup, local delivery and shipping across Ontario, please call 905-641-2252 ext. 4070 or visit niagaracollegewine.ca.

What’s closed?

Athletics and Recreation: Fitness Centres and gymnasiums are closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 9 and will reopen on Jan. 10. Visit goknights.ca for updates.

Bookstores: Both Campus Bookstores will be closed for the duration of the holiday break. Note: From Jan. 4 to 7, the Bookstores will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily (closed on Jan. 3), and beginning Jan. 10 until Jan. 21, they will open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. After Jan. 24, hours will return to 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Online ordering is also available on the websites: Welland Campus Bookstore or Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus Bookstore.

Enrolment Services: Closed for the duration of the College holiday break. Students may continue to submit requests via email and student portal. Requests will be reviewed in priority sequence when Enrolment Services reopens on Jan. 3. Visit the Enrolment Services website for information.

Food Services: Closed for the duration of the holiday break. Food services reopen on Jan. 10 with limited offerings. NCSAC food operations (including cafes and online ordering) are also closed until Jan. 10.

Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services: HWAS is closed for the duration of the holiday break and will reopen on Jan. 3 with services available in person, by phone or by video. During the break, students looking for support can access the following resources, which are also listed on the HWAS website:

Good2Talk
Good2Talk is a free, province-wide service for students in college/university and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It provides professional counselling, mental health information and connections to local resources. Students who are concerned about student life, health or mental well-being can contact Good2Talk via:

COAST Niagara / Mental Health and Addiction Help Line
COAST provides services to people in the Niagara Region who are in crisis and have a mental health concern. Ongoing telephone support and/or referral to appropriate follow-up services may be recommended to prevent further crisis.
Call 1-866-550-5205 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and press 1 for COAST or press 2 for Mental Health and Addiction Help Line. Visit the COAST website for more information.

ncLibraries and Learning Commons: Student support, test centre, academic drop-ins and peer tutoring services will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2. The library will offer support virtually for the week of Jan. 3-7 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and will reopen for in-person services beginning Jan. 10. Online resources are available 24-7 at niagaracollege.ca/library.

NCSAC offices and Student Centres: All NCSAC virtual and physical offices will be closed as of 4 p.m. on Dec. 22 and will reopen on Jan. 3. Visit the NCSAC website for information.
