I am writing today to express my heartfelt thanks for the incredible work of our dedicated faculty, support staff and administrators during this unprecedented time of global uncertainty. The past few weeks have been one of the most challenging times in Niagara College’s history, as the COVID-19 virus spread and the response of governments escalated day to day, and in some cases, hour to hour. We strove to respond to these changes as quickly as possible, with the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff at the forefront of our decision-making.
Our collective desire to support our students and each other through a shift to online learning and student services and remote work is a perfect example of the NC DNA that we hold so dear. There has never been a greater testament to the resilience, dedication, creativity and teamwork of the incredible NC faculty, staff and management team than this transformation; the scale and scope of these changes, accomplished in a one week period, has been nothing short of inspirational. I could not be more proud of our team.
I would also like to recognize the incredible support and cooperation that we continue to receive from our on-campus service providers, including Paragon Security, Commercial Cleaning Services, Chartwells, Campus Living Centres, Follett and Ricoh, as well as the Niagara College Student Administrative Council, which is working hard to find ways to support students during this extraordinary time.
We all look forward to the day that we can welcome each other and our students back to our campuses; until then, I know you will continue to find innovative and creative ways to connect virtually and support each other and our students.
Be healthy, be safe, and be well,
Sean Kennedy
President
