Today, the results of the 2018-19 Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey were released province-wide. The results contain good news for Niagara College, and identify areas where we can focus our efforts for continuous improvement moving forward.
The results show that 80.4 per cent of Niagara College students were either satisfied or very satisfied with their experiences, a two per cent increase over last year. Student satisfaction rates were tightly clustered across the college system, and this year’s results land NC tied for fifth among Ontario colleges in this important category, well above the system average of 75.7 per cent. This score also places us tied for first among mid-sized colleges. As you may know, the student satisfaction score is the average of four capstone questions that measure students’ satisfaction with program quality, learning experiences, quality of services, and quality of facilities and resources.
Our graduates continue to get jobs, and employers are satisfied with the skills and experiences those graduates bring with them into the workplace. Last year, 88.1 per cent of graduates were employed within six months of graduation. Among surveyed employers, 91 per cent said they are satisfied with Niagara College graduates in their employ. I’m also pleased to report that we’ve seen a notable increase in the graduation rate of our students, which shows that 67.1 per cent of Niagara College students successfully completed their studies last year.
2018-19 was a year of unprecedented change for Niagara College. We welcomed the largest and most diverse student body in the college’s history, while also accommodating several large and ambitious construction and renovation projects at both campuses. This year’s positive KPI results are a testament to the commitment and dedication of all faculty and staff, and our shared focus on our students’ satisfaction and success. Please accept my sincere thanks for all of your hard work in support of our students.
I encourage you to review this year’s KPI results, which are available online. If you have questions regarding the survey, please contact Katerina Gonzalez, director, Planning and Institutional Research at [email protected] or Rob Walters, senior advisor to the president, at [email protected].
