Visitors to Benchmark Restaurant at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus this week will notice three large bins – bins that by the end of the week will hopefully be filled with non-perishable food items and new toys to benefit Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold’s 14th anunal Great Holiday Food Drive.

The annual event is held in partnership with local Bell Media radio stations, including Newstalk 610 CKTB, 97.7 HTZ FM and 105.7 EZ Rock, with the goal of filling a St. Catharines Transit bus with food, toys and cash for Niagara families in need.

A special collection will be held on the final day of the event, Friday, Dec. 14 at Market Square in downtown St. Catharines (a second location, in the Zehrs parking lot of the Pen Centre, is also open for donations). All three radio stations will be broadcasting live, and Benchmark and the CFWI will be provide a hot lunch for everyone who comes by to donate. The event will be held from 5:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The Niagara College community is encouraged to stop by Benchmark Restaurant this week to make a donations in the bin. Donations were also collected at the CFWI’s Project Brew event on Dec. 7.

If you can’t make it out but still want to make a donation, you can text GIVE to 20222 to make a $10 or $25 donation directly to Community Care St. Catharines and ThoroldMonetary donations are income tax receipt eligible and allows Community Care to stretch dollars 5 – 1.
