For the second year in a row, NC’s Community Employment Services (CES) has won the St. Catharines Standard Reader’s Choice award for Career Training.
Funded through the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities’ Employment Ontario, Niagara College CES provides support for individuals seeking employment or training, including a resource centre with computer access for job searching, employment-related workshops, and assistance to employers to meet their hiring needs.
“We serve the entire community, regardless of age, employment status or skills. Everyone is welcome!” said Rebecca Nicholls, manager of Community Employment Services. “It is our expert staff, our welcoming atmosphere and commitment to client success that contributed to CES’ success in achieving this award.”
This past summer, CES relocated to 43 Church St. in downtown St. Catharines in the hopes that the new space would bring opportunities for new partnerships and programming with businesses and community organizations across Niagara.
The new location is one of many ways CES is making changes to better service the Niagara community. The organization also revamped its website with improved job-postings for employers and job seekers, and recently underwent a name change from Employment and Training Solutions to Community Employment Services. The new name is meant to better reflect the fact that anyone in the community, not just NC grads, can avail themselves of the team’s programs and services.
“We are honoured to be recognized once again by the community we strive to so diligently serve,” said Nicholls. “Our team is very proud of the work we do and we are committed to continuing the high level of service delivery for many years to come.”
Each year, the St. Catharines Standard hosts a community vote for its readers to determine the best businesses and services in the region. Reader’s Choice awards are available in over 100 categories, anywhere from the Best Overall Customer Service to the Best Local Festival/Community Event.
