The 2017 edition of encore magazine is now available online and in print.
The issue celebrates the College’s special milestone year with a my50th section (pages 14-22), where a feature story shines the spotlight on the College’s evolution from its humble beginnings in 1967 to the innovative game-changer it has become today. The anniversary pages are punctuated by NC memories shared by alumni and former staff members.
Don’t miss the myStory section (pages 23-27) which features a Q-and-A with a celebrated member of our alumni community: award-winning journalist Murray Brewster (page 24-25). Brewster, who currently works for CBC News in Ottawa, has had a successful career since graduating from the Broadcasting: Radio, Television and Film program in 1985. Find out how Mechanical Engineering grad (2015) Ben Laurence, who until recently worked at our Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre, is soaring to new heights in the space flight industry with a new job at Blue Origin (page 23). The section also includes faculty profiles on Navjote Khara who is bringing the world the classrooms of NC (page 26); and our ‘queen bee’ Mylee Nordin, from the College’s new Commercial Beekeeping program (page 27).
Read about how applied research is igniting innovation at our College (page 12-13), our campus redevelopment plans (page 11), the historic season for the NC Knights (page 10) and more recent news in our myCollege section (pages 4-13). Don’t miss the spotlight on Be World Ready (page 28), and the latest news from NC Foundation and Alumni Relations in myConnection (pages 28-34).
