Message from Dan Patterson: Help our students achieve a world record … with your sweet tooth

Dan Patterson

On Wednesday, April 1, the NC Event Management (Graduate Certificate) students will attempt to break the official Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Dessert Party.

And, they need your help.

Over 1,000 participants are required to indulge their sweet teeth in over 5,000 delectable desserts made fresh in-house and locally. Special tickets are available: $3 per student and $5 for general admission.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and may be bought at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus in room N304C or by calling ext. 6406 or 4069, or, email: Parking has been set aside for the event in section B3.

Along with attempting to wrestle away the honour from the current record holder – Friendly’s Ice Cream in Massachusetts – the world’s largest dessert party is a fund-raiser to support the College’s 18th annual Many Hands Project. This year, Many Hands has selected the non-profit organization Strive Niagara to assist in renovating its Welland facility.

Please join your fellow students, faculty, staff and the public in supporting this sweet endeavour. It all starts at 3 p.m. at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus in the lower level gym. The official count down for the world record will start at 3:30 p.m. You can learn more about this event online at

While disruption of classes is not encouraged, we do hope that you will join us if there is a break. Invite your friends and family too!

Help us put Niagara College on the world map. See you there.
