The Hon. Jeff Leal, Ontario’s minister of agriculture, food and rural affairs, chose NC’s Wine Visitor + Education Centre as the backdrop March 5 as he brought good news for the province’s wine and grape industry.
With local industry representatives in attendance, the minister announced two new programs aimed at increasing innovation in the wine and grape sector while growing sales of VQA wines and boosting tourism in Ontario’s wine regions.
The new Marketing and Vineyard Improvement program will help to increase the sale of Ontario wines in and out-of-province, and the renewed VQA Support Program will help increase LCBO sales of VQA wines.
Following the announcement, the minister toured the Niagara College Teaching Winery, sampled NCT Winery wines and learned about student projects.
A full story on the minister’s announcement appeared in the St. Catharines Standard.
