Next week, Niagara College’s own Junior Culinary Team Canada will depart for Luxembourg, where they will take on junior chefs from around the globe at the World Culinary Championships.
To celebrate this outstanding accomplishment, and to wish the team well, we will hold a send-off celebration at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus on Friday, November 7 at 1 p.m., in the lower level cafeteria foyer. If you are available, I invite you to join us for this special event, which will include team introductions, well wishes and treats provided by our Canadian Food and Wine Institute. Show your pride by wearing NC apparel or red and white.
Junior Culinary Team Canada is a group of Niagara College culinary students and graduates who last year won the right to represent Canada for three years, culminating in the World Culinary Olympics in 2016. This month’s event in Luxembourg marks their first international test on the road to the Olympics. Under the guidance of faculty and staff from the Canadian Food and Wine Institute and under the direction of dean Craig Youdale, the team has been working countless hours to prepare for these international competitions, where they will represent Niagara College and all of Canada.
If you’re unable to join the celebration, you can send well wishes to the team via the Junior Culinary Team Canada web site, which includes team information, and will feature updates throughout the competition in Luxembourg.
Please join me in extending best wishes to our team. Go Canada!
