Excitement is building for Orientation Week 2014.
Orientation will begin on Tuesday, September 2 at 8:30 a.m. at both the Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses. Students will have the opportunity to meet their faculty and peers at program information sessions in addition to learning about the variety of student services available to them at the Student Services Fair. They will also be able to pick up their student ID cards, bus passes, parking passes, and make new friends.
Orientation Week will be filled with various events ranging from a MUCH Video Dance to Desserts in the Vineyard. The Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership has been working with numerous departments for several months in order to create an offering of events that appeal to a wide variety of students – a little something for everyone!
Post-Graduate program faculty and staff are invited to mix and mingle with their students at the Post-Graduate Programs Reception to be held September 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the NC Teaching Winery.
Friday, September 5 will be Niagara College Night at the Food Festival in downtown Welland. Staff, faculty and students are encouraged to attend the event featuring as they will be featuring live music with headliner, Born Ruffians.
Staff and faculty are encouraged to wear ‘Ask Me’ buttons throughout Orientation Week in order to portray a welcoming feeling and a willingness to answer questions from incoming students. Ask Me buttons are available for pickup in room L20 (Welland Campus) or W206 (NOTL Campus).
To prepare our incoming students as much as possible for their NC experience, they were mailed and emailed The Top 10 NC Essentials (view document here).
The Kickstart program was also piloted this year – an optional pre-orientation session that covered key services, and gave students the opportunity to pick up their student cards in advance. Demand for the program far exceeded expectations and based on positive feedback, the Kickstart program is expected to continue at the start of each term.
Niagara College’s Orientation website has all of the up-to-date information and is continuously updated. Please visit our Orientation website here for all of the information and details.
Staff and faculty are also encouraged to view a Blackboard tutorial video created by the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership. The video may be viewed here.
The Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership thanks staff and faculty in advance for their hard work and dedication to welcoming our new students to the NC family.
