Shane Malcolm elected SAC president

A message from Niagara College’s Student Administrative Council:

Shane Malcolm has been elected as the 14-15 president for SAC during a presidential selection meeting called by the Board of Directors on March 27.

Born and raised in the Montego Bay, Jamaica, Shane Malcolm moved to Canada in 2009 to pursue a new path in the culinary arts at Niagara College. In 2011, he graduated with honours from the Culinary Management (Co-op) Program and began pursuing his Bachelors in Hospitality Operations Management, which he will complete in 2014.

Shane has actively participated as a student leader on campus as the director of clubs and volunteers for SAC. Most recently, he served as the executive vice president for SAC and the student representative on the Niagara College Board of Governors.

His focus during his term will be to develop a flexible and adaptative environment that is responsive to change and feedback. He will also be focusing on student engagement and opportunities to expand SAC’s service offerings.

The SAC Board of Directors will be participating in its annual retreat from May 2-4 under Shane’s leadership and direction.
