Andrea Horwath, leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP), visited Niagara College’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus October 18 to discuss the role of colleges, and learn about NC’s learning enterprises and applied research projects.
After meeting with a group of college representatives, including president Dan Patterson and vice president academic Steve Hudson, Horwatch toured the campus, including stops in the greenhouse, where she learned about an aquaponics research project; the Niagara College Teaching Brewery; culinary labs and the Canadian Food and Wine Institute Research Centre, where she took part in a sensory evaluation.
Horwath also took time to meet with NC’s Culinary Olympic team that is competing to represent Canada at the upcoming Culinary Olympics.
