Hundreds of students and others got help determining their next steps today at the All About Options event at the Welland Campus.
Approximately 50 exhibitors were on hand for the event, including prospective employers and representatives from colleges and universities that offer post-graduate study options. Participants had the opportunity to explore full and part-time employment options, summer employment, professional development, graduate studies and more.
A second All About Options event takes place at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus today (Jan. 31) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower-level foyer.
The event is a joint initiative between Recruitment and Co-op Education and Graduate Employment Services.
“All About Options was a tremendous success thanks to the outstanding work of staff and great support by faculty to promote the expo to our students,” said Kristine Dawson, manager, co-op and graduate employment services.
“The All About Options format is a great choice for the students as it provides them the opportunity in one event to explore their options in their industry related workforce by speaking with potential employers, as well as investigate options surrounding furthering their education,” added associate registrar Phil Hayes. “By combining these two avenues, it gives the students the flexibility to have meaningful conversations to help them map out their next steps.”
Organizer Carly Root estimates 1,500 or more people made their way through the Learning Commons today to speak to representatives from employers and schools.
“It was a great mix of graduates and students who are mid-way through their studies,” she said. “We had a steady stream of visitors all day – the exhibitors were very pleased.”
This year’s move from the gymnasium to the Learning Commons was successful – attracting more guests from previous years.
